BuLo Sint-Jozef – Getting Started with iPads in the classroom

BuLo Sint-Jozef is a special needs primary education school in Gent. The school works in 4 teams, each serving a different target group:

  • children with serious emotional and/or behavioural problems affecting their functioning in school and/or society;
  • children with a mild mental disability, often with a general learning deficit, both in terms of language and maths;
  • children with a moderate to severe mental disability, possibly resulting in problems in terms of communication skills, self-reliance, social and emotional development and motor development
  • children with an autism spectrum disorder without an intellectual disability.

The school is currently working on a vision on development-oriented education. A good ICT-offer is definitely part of this. Support from the Social Fund would contribute to the purchase of a number of iPads. With this project, the school wants to offer children maximum development opportunities in a realistic learning and living environment and teach them attitudes and skills to deal with multimedia in an independent and responsible way.
