Cherut België provides aid and support to girls, women and transgender persons in vulnerable situations associated with prostitution, exploitation and human trafficking. Cherut means freedom and stands for the freedom to choose, particularly for those who have little or no choice. The freedom to make dreams come true. The organisation supports this group in finding freedom within their lives and offers women the prospect of a normal future life. Women in such situations are also entitled to a safe, happy life outside of prostitution and human trafficking. One of the ways this is achieved is by creating a safe place.
A safe place is part of the overall programme that Cherut offers women who wish to escape. When women decide to quit prostitution, they lose their income. Due to language barriers, a lack of work experience and trauma processing, it’s not possible for them to start a different job straight away. This means it is almost impossible to stop working in prostitution. Cherut has started an exit course for this purpose: 'Turning Point'. women on this pathway are intensively supported by our social workers.
