The non-profit organisation ‘Cultureghem VZW’ gives the former slaughterhouse ‘Abatoir’ in Anderlecht a new destination, organising lots of activities. The project ‘Collectmet’ helps people who are hungry and fights for the right to healthy food for everyone. Food wastage is still a major problem on the market and fighting this is very important. ‘Collectmet’ tries to increase the awareness of market vendors and market-goers. Every Sunday, a team of volunteers goes to the market and collects unsold fruit and vegetables for later distribution. With the collected vegetables and fruit, the organisation cooks every week a healthy meal that underprivileged and other people can enjoy for a free gift. ‘Collectmet’ is a project completely relying on volunteers. ‘Cultureghem’ offers support if needed, ‘Abattoir’ facilitates.
