‘Den Achtkanter’ supports adults with an intellectual disability and adults with a non-congenital brain injury, both in terms of living and working and in their leisure time. The quality of life is central in everything they do. The non-profit organisation organises in consultation with the client and his or her social network an individual, customised programme. This may entail workshops, individual or group living accommodations, supported employment, education, sports, leisure activities or advanced cognitive therapy for people with a non-congenital brain injury. Less mobile clients with a non-congenital brain injury often don’t have the opportunity to participate in excursions. By purchasing a tandem bicycle, the organisation wants to make sure that these people as well can enjoy outdoor bicycle rides.
