Dancing towards inclusion (Wheelchair dancing)

Proposed by Ann Uytterhoeven

2000 euro

The Keerbergen amigo’s provide wheelchair dancing for people with or without disabilities. Dancing makes us happy, but for many people with a disability or medical condition, dancing in a regular dance club is not an option. This organisation gives them the opportunity to let off steam in an energetic activity that is adapted to their abilities. This applies particularly to all those dancers who are permanently wheelchair-bound.

The club has a large and growing number of members in that regard, which means they need additional dance wheelchairs. With the support on the Fund, they would like to help and give disabled people the opportunity to participate in sports in a society in which everyone can be themselves (inclusion). Fun fact: on the 21st of April 2024 the club organized the Belgian wheelchair dancing championship in Rotselaar – a municipality where Danone is the largest employer. This is an international competition held at the same time as the Belgian championship.
