Day of the Full Bread Box

Pelicano Child Poverty Foundation rescues children from extreme poverty in Belgium.

At least one in five children in Belgium grows up in poverty. They often go to school with an empty or unhealthy lunchbox. They want to prevent this and reverse this phenomenon. This is why Pelicano is working with Flemish and Brussels schools to organise the ‘Day of the Full Lunchbox’. The support of the Fund will help to fill lunchboxes with healthy food. The beauty of the project is that everyone in the school sees what a healthy lunch looks like and eats the same (which is not always the case). No discrimination or jealousy. Furthermore, the intention is to simultaneously present an educational programme with a school package around poverty and nutrition. We can make a difference to these children thanks to the Fund. The project chosen here is filling the lunch box with healthy food.
