Creation of an auti playground

Proposed by Peter Vierstraete

Prizma basisschool De Zonnebloem is a school for special education type 9 (children with autism). People and children with autism are a disadvantaged minority. As such they can encounter a range of obstacles in society, depending on the context in which they are situated.

In order to give the children with autism in this primary school the opportunity to develop their social skills, it is important to provide calm as well as play options (designed in function of children with autism). This year, they intend to focus on improving the play area by creating a mini nature area (planting trees), restoring green zones and ensuring safety around the sandpit. By making their play area greener, they also boost biodiversity. The pupils learn to respect and interact with nature. In other words, a contribution from the Fund gives these children the opportunity to grow and be themselves (inclusion).
