Robin Foundation makes school bills manageable

Proposed by Sara Telen

3000 euro

The Robin Foundation helps children growing up in poverty to pay their school bills. Thanks to the Robin pass, the Robin Foundation offers children the security to start paying for everything they need (mandatory supplies, textbooks, computer equipment, healthy meals, etc.), so that learning delays have no chance. Every child in poverty deserves a chance to break the cycle of poverty through education. Unfortunately, some 120,000 Flemish children cannot afford their many school expenses due to their poverty. The Robin Foundation focuses on 3 new projects: healthy food in schools, technical materials, and equipment. As part of the nutrition project, an initial pilot project with Scolarest (Compass Group) school restaurants introduced the Robin pass to 400 children (in 13 schools). They benefit from a meal offer at €1 and discounts on the rest. For every euro, a child in a vulnerable family situation can eat at school. The goal of the project is to charge a budget of €100 on the Robin pass for each child. Support from the Danone social fund would allow the project to continue.
