Team Next is a sports project for and by (former) cancer patients. They create a sports club with peers under the guidance of professional coaches in which they: have fun doing sports together, without competition but motivating each other with tailor-made sports, under the guidance of experienced rehabilitation coaches. They offer sport-specific group training sessions, sports programs, team field days, etc.
Members support each other and work together to get their lives back on track by becoming physically active again. As patients often face financial difficulties after their treatment, they try to make the project as accessible as possible by appealing to volunteers and sponsors. In this way, they hope to strengthen social inclusion.
The project started in February 2024 and already had 30 members at the beginning of November. They hope to extend their operation even further by keeping the registration fee low through sponsorship. The personal impact for each (former) cancer patient is to improve quality of life after cancer treatment. As a group, they help each other get back on their feet after cancer treatment. By training and progressing slowly, patients' immunity increases, their energy levels rise and they become mentally stronger, reducing the risk of relapse.
