The Cercle des Amis de Paalbos is responsible for organizing activities and school projects at Paalbos elementary school. Imagine a playground where sport and nature go hand in hand, where children not only run and jump, but also discover the magic of trees. By redesigning the playground, the association, with this project, is giving children a new chance to climb trees - but not just any trees! They've chosen special trees with branch structures that invite climbing, swinging and much more. These trees will become a source of endless adventure and creative play, a place where children can let their imaginations run wild.
The playground is a living space used daily by teachers and some 250 pupils aged 2.5 to 12. Trees will play a central role. Outside playtime, trees will be integrated into outdoor teaching, offering a unique learning experience.
Not all children have the luxury of a garden at home, and many gardens don't offer the opportunity to climb a large, sturdy tree. That's why the association will also open the playground to local children. As a result, the area will be able to accommodate an additional 1,000 children on a regular basis.
