Creating a low-stimulus creative studio

Proposed by Martine Van Bever

4000 euro

Vzw Gooikenshoeve is a farm sanctuary that provides day activities to young people between 17 and 25 who struggle with mental health and/or socially. Spending a meaningful day at a farm sanctuary to complement the existing care provision can be very valuable, and for some young people it can be a turning point thanks to its small scale and relaxed atmosphere. The daily activities consist of looking after the farm animals and growing organic vegetables, to help reconnect young people with nature.

With the support of the Fund, the farm will create a studio in an existing barn, which simultaneously serves as a low-stimulation space. The mentally suffering young people cannot participate in group activities. They are usually extremely intelligent and creative, highly sensitive and autistic. The low-incentive, secure studio will provide peace of mind for them and enable safe personal development. In addition, the studio will of course also be used in the creative activities of the day care group.
