WanderART organises socio-cultural projects and wants to be a platform for art created by a special group of artists. Artists in the margin who fail to enter the official circuit (people with a disability, (former) psychiatric patients, (former) prisoners...). These artists are referred to as ‘Outsiders’ and their art is often called ‘Art Brut’. The non-profit organisation WanderART wants to highlight this ‘marginal art’ through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, publications...
The project "Catching Dreams" started at the end of 2016 and includes, among others, poetry and philosophy workshops on the theme ‘The Evolution of the self. I am free to be’. Thanks to this project, detainees in the prison of Bruges are given the opportunity to philosophise, write and work on introspection into their past, present and future. By showing their creativity outside the prison walls, WanderART not only wants to show the art of poetry but also wishes to bring some nuance in the perception of a group that is faced with so many prejudices. The project is co-supported by ‘De Rode Antraciet’, a socio-cultural organisation working in the prisons of Flanders and Brussels.
